BARBIE

I spent over ten years working as an international fashion model.

I loved being in front of the camera, but with time, I realized there’s something quite exposing about giving so much of yourself to someone else’s vision.

When I moved behind the camera, I decided to shoot Barbie the way others had shot me.

The series became my debut collection and one of my most personal stories to date. This time, I was the one deciding how she would be seen.

Through her, I started looking at the expectations I’d lived with for so long. What other people wanted me to be, and what I’d come to expect of myself:

She never breaks the pose. She never falls out of line. She’s the perfect model.

At the end of the series, I destroy her. Looking back, I think I was letting go of the version of myself that lived in front of the lens, allowing room for a different version of her, and of myself.
